So today I am going to talk about something very very very important. Last night at 7:53 PM I got a call from the Universe. Thats right! The Universe called me on my cell phone I was asleep back there in my bad... I was half a sleep I was really tired... very very tired... and I heard the phone ring. I thought it was my student Asumi who earlier that day I emailed her telling her that I had to cancle her lesson because i have to, you know, work another job that pays. Um soo... it was the Universe. It was the phone call I have been waiting now for 6 months, and for 6 months I belived would happen.
Lets rewind. 6 moths ago.. umm 7-8 months ago. I was at my favorite website, well the website for my favorite store, Baby the Stars Shine Bright. Which is my absolute favorite Lolita brand name. I love the store. It is absolutely fabulous. And they were looking for a position for a general manger for their San Francisco store. I don't want to move to San Francisco but I figured I would apply anyway just to see if i can get an interview. And with Emma's help, thank you Emma, I was able to write my resume and cover letter IN JAPANESE, over the course of a weekend and got that in the mail and got that in by their deadline. And I made that deadline... and I didn't hear back from them for a month. You know, all my friends are telling me well if they don't tell you in 2 weeks then you know they are not going to get back to you... but I kind of believed that it would happen. So when I was on vacation last October in America, I got an email from them. And I was hu---- I got an email from BABY. I answered their email. I resent them what they needed (I sent it to them before) I resent them what they needed, I was very civil about that. And then during another one of my classes, when I was talking about this with Miwa, one of my former students who I don't see anymore umm we were talking about it and the phone rang! And it was BABY! I was like “gotta get this, it's from the Universe. And we set up an interview. And I actually went to the store, to their head office in Tokyo, and I interviewed with them!
And I didn't expect to meet the president, but I did! He came in, we started talking and he was a really really nice guy! And at the end of the interview I was like, “you know I will make the english version of your webpage” because it is was something I wanted to do. He was like “oh yeah yeah that would be really great! That would be really helpful if you can do that!” And I did not hear back from him for a long long time.
So, I decided... during golden week, I was just going to make it. I made it and I sent it off to him. He received it on Friday. He called me on Monday! And he said, “We need to talk, lets talk really soon.” So next Monday I have an appointment to see him! And he is like a very famous fashion designer for Lolita fashion, he's like really high up, He's like the gucci of (lolita) fashion.. BABY the Stars Shine Bright is like the most famous... the Gucci of Lolita designer. He's the most famous lolita designer, and his brand.. and they do not have an english webpage. And he called ME I was like, yeah! This is GREAT! I was like jumping! I was crazy! I was like... I couldn't breath! I was so excited I just couldn't breath. I was like wow, this is great! Oh my god Oh my God!! Isobe he called me! Isobe he called me! and it was Actually him! I picked up the phone! “BABY the Stars Shine Bright no Isobe desu” tte iwareta (Japanese) so so KYAAA I guess thats the way to say it.. KYAA Thats great Japanese everybody needs to learn KYAAA Anyway, so I got the call from BABY! Yeah!
And, Here is how I did it! I attracted it! I did it myself! I made my own thoughts, I turned my own thoughts into reality because I am magical like that! No, I was following what they call the Law of Attraction, which is basically you attract what you think. If you think, oh bad things are going to happen to me, I'm going to get laid off... and you are constantly thinking that... bad things are going to happen to you, your going to get laid off. If you think good things are going to happen to you, if you think positively, spend all your energy thinking about doing something, good things will happen to you!
Psychologists call this self-fulfilling prophecies. If you think “Oh, I'm going to get sick, I'm going to get sick” your going to get sick. I remember a story in one of my psychology classes... no it was communication... There was this woman who was told by a fortune teller that on this day she was going to die. And when the day came, you know, she was so scaired. “Oh, I'm going to die! I'm going to die, I'm going to die!.” You know, she went to the doctor's office. The doctor found absolutely nothing wrong with her physically. But, by the end of the day she actually did die because of her self-fulfilling prophesy. She was so certain that that was going to happen, it actually happened! So, self-fulfilling prophecies, this Law of Attraction, it works both ways, good and bad!
Well, for me. I spent the last 6 months imagining the day Isobe was going to call me back! Literally, 6 months! Just thinking about it! Imagining it, working it. And I decided, you know, I need to take a little bit more action for him to call me back. So I took some action, I built him a website. I built him a concept. I sent it to him. He must have liked it because he called me back on it! And, this is not luck This is a lot of preparation, a lot of work, which is part of the Law of Attraction. You don't just think about having things happen to you. You have to think about having things, then you get ideas. This is VERY important for the Law of Attraction. You think about having things, you think about the things you want to do in life. You don't worry about the HOW, somehow you get these little ideas in your head and you follow through on those ideas. And those ideas lead to your goal!
So... kinda like a genie. Ask the genie for the wish, but the genie does not give you the wish. You ask, “Ok, I wanna be rich, I wanna be rich!” BOOM falls from the sky! NO. It's not wishful thinking like that. The Genie gives you a key. So you ask the genie, I wanna be rich, I wanna be rich. The genie will give you a key. Now you HAVE to take the key and unlock the door. Which will lead you to the next step... the next step. The Genie will give you a key to the next step. And eventually, you will find a way to be rich.
Um... I think it works, it works very well. I am a very strong believer of the Law of Attraction. I know there is this whole mythical, religious side to it. I'm more for the practical side. That, you are.. you become what you think. You become what you think! Um , for example, if you keep on thinking, if you keep on thinking, “I can't speak English, my English is bad” which I hear EVERY SINGLE ---- DAY in my life... then yeah, you're right. Your English is BAD. You can't speak English. You're right. If you keep on saying that, that's what happens. If you change your belief, and you truly believe that you CAN, you will. You will learn. You have to take some action to it, of course. You can't just ‘I cant speak English' you can't just do it by thinking you know... you have to do your own, personal action. And I think Steve, Steve sets a great example of following this law of attraction when he learns a language. He doesn't believe it's impossible. He doesn't believe it's hard. He believes that he can do it. And he thinks about doing it and he imagines himself doing it and he does the listening he does the reading. He takes the action to do it, and he does it. And that's how he has learned 10, maybe 11 languages now. I think Steve is a very good example of this Law of Attraction.
