What's New at the Linguist, October 2005

To learn English well you have to be efficient in what you do. For some time now our site has not been working as quickly as it could, especially for those of you who have been very active. That is why we spent a significant amount of effort this past month to redesign our data handling system to improve the speed of our pages. We know that all of you, especially our power users, will be extremely impressed and pleased with the improved performance.

To those of you who have been active on our Forum lately, thank you for all your constructive comments and enthusiasm. I am sure you are all enjoying the feeling of community you find there. It can be a lonely place studying online which is why we encourage all of you to get active on our Forum. There is no question that the interaction you have during Discussions and also on the Forum helps to motivate, encourage and enhance your efforts on The Linguist.

I encourage all of you to click the "ask your tutor" link on your phrasecards when you are unsure of the meaning. You will get an answer within 24 hours from a Linguist tutor and these questions are then available to other members on the Forum. Make sure to click the "watch this forum" link when posting your question. This way you will get an email alert when you receive an answer.

Additionally, a recent thread on the Forum was started to encourage members to form study groups. You can meet the other members of your study group regularly to discuss common interests, or to share opinions on content you have recently studied. Click here to find out more about Linguist Groups.

Get active on The Linguist Forum to enhance your English learning! The Forum is an excellent place to interact with all members of our Linguist Community in an informal manner. Happy posting!
