A Backwards Guide to Everyday Life the Diary/Blog of Chris Sarda, The Musings of a Kept Man and His Goals

The Musings of a Kept Man and His Goals I should say that in this context ‘kept' means that someone, normally a wife or a girlfriend, pays my way and that I'm not working. In this case that person is my wife. She works all day and I really do nothing except for some housework. Before you decide to call me lazy, there is a good reason, I'm going back to the US on the 20th of June so there's no point in finding a job with the exception of the occasional private lesson here and there. Anyway this entry is just about what's going on my life as a ‘kept man'. I spend a lot of time on Lingq, which I suppose is a good thing. I'm spending time with the mountain of paperwork I have to finish, so that my wife will be allowed to enter my country. Gosia (my wife) is taking it pretty hard that we'll separate again for a handful of months, so am I really. My life consists right now of making my Polish better and practicing some Spanish and French too. I'm trying to get through Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand while I have the time before I get back into school. I'm also reading Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman in Polish. I have planned out a set of goals and I find that they are really hard to work towards when I often find myself sitting around being lazy. I mean I'm doing the language stuff but that's sort of a hobby. I have written out detailed goals concerning education, finance, family, and health. I find that when I have forced actions, for example work and school, it pushes and motivates me to get the other things done. When I have a lot of free time I find that I'm often lazy. This is something I need to change. Especially if the main goal is financial stability and control, by running my own business. I've written out a list of short term goals that will help reach some of the long term goals I've set out for myself, I need to switch off from laziness and relaxing and find that fire for work I had a few years back. So how do you find that fire? How do you find a way to motivate yourself? I find forcing myself to read my goals helps, but then the next day comes and I'm reading pointless forum posts and watching pointless youtube videos again. Well anyway that's just a quick little recap of what's going on. When I started writing this I had a different topic in mind but forgot it as I writing. If I remember I'll make another podcast, thanks for listening.

The Musings of a Kept Man and His Goals

I should say that in this context ‘kept' means that someone, normally a wife or a girlfriend, pays my way and that I'm not working.
