What's New at the Linguist, System Update: December 2004

In November we continued to make progress here at The Linguist. Steve traveled to China and Taiwan where he was promoting his book. He received very positive responses in both markets and was glad to also be able to meet some of our Taiwanese and Chinese learners. We continued to make fixes and respond to the many suggestions we have received from our Linguist Community by email or on the Forum. Please keep these suggestions and any problem reports coming in to us as we are continuously striving to make The Linguist system even better.

As David mentions in his article we have been adding a lot of content to the Linguist Library. We are especially happy to have initiated a relationship with the Vancouver Board of Trade who will be providing us with business related content. We have heard from many of you in our community who have asked for more business content and we have responded. Please continue to let us know about our content. What you would like to see more of, what you liked or didn't like,? There is a lot of content that we can find, so if we get your feedback we will have a better idea of what to go after.

We know our system works. Now we have to let the world know about our system. This means trying to drive more traffic to our site and trying to have the right message on our site when people get there. At the same time we feel that our current members can be very effective at getting the word out about our system. That is why this week we will be implementing our "Refer a friend, get a free month" program. In this program, for every friend a member recommends they will receive 1 free month of Basic Membership. People will be rewarded for recommending their friends while at the same time benefiting from creating their own little learning group. As members of a learning group you will have the advantage of being able to share knowledge of the system, thoughts about different content, get on our voice chats with each other, and motivate each other. For these reasons and more we recommend forming groups if you can. If you want you can create groups in our Forum. Then you can meet online in the Voice Chat. I look forward to meeting you online.
