A Backwards Guide to Everyday Life the Diary/Blog of Chris Sarda, President Obama up until now.

President Obama up until now.

Everyday Life May 19th Podcast Quick thoughts on the Obama presidency up until now. So before I start I should say that, yeah I know it's still really early in his term and that you can't make judgments already. I know that, but my judgments aren't the same as the judgments of the Republicans either. They all seem to think that Obama is socialist and that since Bush left we're falling into a Soviet spiral or something. My only criticisms on Obama are that there hasn't been any real change and no evidence that there will be. The only change is that the White House has someone with style in it now rather than a bumbling idiot. I heard Obama talking the other day about how Americans have to change their way of life. How they have to become ‘savers' rather than a people who live their lives on credit and in debt. I couldn't agree more, but I'm agreeing with what he says, not what he's doing. If he thinks we need to switch to a saving economy then why is he trying to jump start the credit market? Why is he giving tax breaks to buy cars? Why is he trying (and Bush too by the way) to get Americans to get themselves in the same mess they got themselves in, in the same way!!!??? Obama has just shown me that he's the typical smooth talking politician. He ran on how bad the war in Iraq was, but does that mean the war in Afghanistan is any different? I don't see any change now and I don't see it on the horizon either. Really the only thing that's different is that European leaders like to be seen with him and like the photo ops. Another thing is the opposition, the Republicans. Suddenly they've all become anti big government. It's amazing, the nature of power, how when it's them that's in power they have no problem growing the military and using it, spending billions and billions of dollars on a crisis they helped to create with the mad money printing they were doing and then when they lose power suddenly they hate a strong central government again. Idiots. Today my country is the perfect mix of socialism and fascism, I only hope it doesn't get too out of control. They were all defending Bush when he was pooling power for the executive branch, now that Obama has all that power, they're complaining? Dumb.
