What's New at the Linguist, December 2006

As another year comes to a close we have a chance to look back at the changes and improvements that happened at The Linguist over the past year. Of course, we have continued to improve our service by adding new content, refining functionality and introducing new initiatives like the Vox blogs and various podcasts.

Actually, our community of Vox bloggers has grown very quickly and has been a very successful complement to our system. And since we have added the Members Blogging list to our home page we have been able to include our Vox bloggers and non-Vox bloggers in one big blogging community! Just a reminder, to any of you who have blogs that are currently not appearing in our Membersa Blogging list, to send us your blog url.

A new initiative that will be happening in the New Year is a regular podcast from Steve, Jill and I. Some of you may be familiar with the EnglishLingQ podcast which we have been running since last year. Up until now, all we've been doing is putting up the audio of items in our library as podcasts. In the New Year the format of this podcast will change.

Now we will be talking about specific content items from our library and different aspects of the content including key vocabulary. Please make sure to tell us which items and, if you like, which vocabulary you would like us to discuss!

We also would like to have a regular feature where we will discuss membera's writing submissions. We can read out the corrected text and point out and talk about some of the errors from the original submission. We think this will be of interest to many of you. Again, please let us know if you would like us to use your writing submission. Dona't be shy! There will undoubtedly be more ideas that come to us and of course we would love to hear from you. Tell us what you would like us to discuss. You can do so on our EnglishLingQ forum.

Finally, I would like to wish everyone all the best at this time of year and to remind you all that a gift of a 6-month Linguist Membership would be a great way to say Merry Christmas to your friends and family!
