Get the Perfect Pedicure

If you want to have beautiful looking toes for those nights when you hit the town in open toed shoes, follow these easy steps.

Soak your feet in warm water for at least 10 minutes. This helps to loosen up the dead skin, making it easier to slough off.

Use a pumice stone, exfoliating scrub or foot scraper to gently scrub the soles of your feet. You have to be very careful if you are going to use a scraper. They are very sharp and it is easy to cut yourself. I recommend using a pumice stone because you can't hurt yourself and it works better than an exfoliating scrub. Make sure that you scrub the toes, balls and heels of your feet so that you have silky soft feet all over. Then, dry your feet.

Trim your toenails if needed and push back cuticles.

Massage feet with plenty of foot lotion. Body lotion, petroleum jelly or cream can be used to replace foot lotion. Make sure that whatever lotion you choose, it is thick and creamy. The skin on your feet is tough, so you need to use a rich moisturizer.

If you can, sleep with socks on. If this is not possible, wrap your feet in plastic bags for at least 15 minutes. This will help the moisturizer soak into the skin.

Paint your toe nails. It is a good idea to put on a base coat before applying nail polish. This will keep your toe nails from looking yellow when you take off the nail polish. You can also apply a top coat to give your nails more shine and to help your nail polish last longer. Be careful to give the nail polish enough time to dry before putting on any socks or footwear. If you don't, your pedicure will be ruined. Have fun!
