Dave: Chris, what are you doing this weekend?
Chris: Um, I think I might go watch a movie, National Treasure, starring Nicolas Cage.
Dave: I haven't seen that movie yet. Um, I've got like, these two tickets, like those movie passes that you get when you cash in your air miles, and they're up on Friday, and I've got like three of them. So I have to take six people to a movie!
Chris: Oh really?
Dave: Yeah, so I don't know what I'm going to see. I might see that new Alexander movie, or I might see- Chris: Don't go watch it. Don't watch it, I've seen Alexander, and at first when I went, I had-I thought that it was going to be a good movie, but by the end of the movie, everybody was just coming out all angry and said it was a waste of money, and I myself agreed. Dave: I heard bad reviews. Of course, I'm excited about seeing a historical movie like that. Directed by Oliver Stone, it's got to be good, but apparently they said it-it sucks. Chris: Yeah, in the whole movie-when I'm going into the movie, I figure it was more or less going to be like Gladiator or Braveheart, with many historical battles fought by Alexander and his great army. But what happened was there was actually only two battles that you actually saw, and they only took up maybe 10 minutes of this three-hour movie. So most of the time it was Alexander getting all mushy with his co-workers, or his lieutenants. There was actually a scene in the movie where he was making love to a eunuch of the Persian Empire. This was really distasteful for me, because I was looking for blood and gore, not two guys kissing. So I would not recommend it.
Dave: Okay, tell me about your adventure with your car. You don't have a car now, and you almost had one a few days ago. Tell me about this.
Chris: Well, actually, my friend had an old 1986 Lincoln Town Car up in Prince George while he was going to school, the College of New Caledonia. While he was going there, he had this car and he moved back to Vancouver, and the car was left behind in Prince George. He offered me the car, so I took up on his offer, and I flew up to Prince George with him, his girlfriend, and his dog. So everything was good, we had an appointment at Midas to get some new brakes, which I thought was the only problem with the car, but when I got to Midas, the Midas guy actually gave me a big list of problems with the car. In total-I figured it would only cost about $600-but in total, it cost maybe about $1600, so I was quite blown away at the price that I had to pay. So, I asked for just basic, for it to be able to get down to Vancouver, from Prince George to Vancouver, and he said it would still cost $1000. So after a lot of thinking, a long time of thinking, to do what, what should I do, I called the auto wreckers and they said they would come tow the car, and possibly give me $50 for it, if it was in good condition. The car itself-my friend bought it for $700, so I was a little annoyed at the fact that they would only give me $50 for a $700-$1000 car. So, the Midas guy overheard my conversation with the auto wreckers, and he offered me $150, which was three times the amount of which I could have gotten from the auto wreckers. So I went with him and I sold the car, which I really never had, for $150. And that's my story. Dave: That's a very funny and sad and depressing story, but at least you made some cash out of it, which is-or did you make some cash? Chris: Ah, yes, yes. $150 in my pocket.
Dave: That's not bad. So how are you getting around this weekend?
Chris: Bussing.
Dave: Bussing. Where are you going to be taking the bus to?
Chris: To and from work. Other than that, I have no plans for this weekend. But I'm looking forward to having a break from work. Dave: So am I. No plans, but the break is always appreciated. Thanks for talking to me, Chris.
