What's New at the Linguist, February 2007

We've been very busy this past month on our new system but we've still managed to find the time to make some much needed updates to the existing system. Before I get in to that, here's a quick status update on our new version. We are getting very close to having a wide-scale beta version. Starting this week we will be inviting small numbers of beta testers to start trying it out. It is in a rough form right now but the main areas are working and are ready for users. We hope to have a full scale beta version open to all of our members by this time next month.

Regarding changes on our existing system, most obviously, we have added a search feature to TheLinguist Library so that you can now search easily for content. This search box, unfortunately, doesn't search the whole article text but it does search for words in the title and for keywords that we have entered in to the system. We hope you find this feature helpful. Just so you know, in our new system, all the text in our content library will be fully searchable!

In addition, we've incorporated the Invite a Friend/Member-Guest program into the site itself. So, instead of having to email us to ask for a coupon to send to your friends, you can send emails to your friends directly from the Member Area of TheLinguist. You will see a large green 'Invite a Friend' button on the right hand side at the top, above the caricature of Steve. Click on the button and follow the instructions to invite up to three friends for a free month of Basic Membership. As usual, for any of your friends that continue as active members, we will give you a free month of Basic Membership.

When we say friends, of course we mean friends, business colleagues, family members. The more the merrier. For those of you with a lot of friends, there is now no limit on the number of friends you can invite. One thing, though, if you are going to change the message we send, please use the Roman alphabet. The message does not display other characters properly, yet.

Finally, some of you have already asked to beta test our new version. We will be contacting you as we increase the number of testers. To make sure you are included, please go to www.lingq.com and enter your email in the specified entry box.
