For this month's newsletter, I thought I would do something a little different. I have here with me my mom, Pat and I thought we would chat a little bit about her day and what she's been doing with herself. Kindrey: So mom, today was a beautiful sunny day here in Vancouver, how did you spend your day?
Pat: This morning was a wonderful morning, and it was fresh and crispy out because we had a little rain during the night so I got up and I had a little walk up and around the mountain I live on. It takes about 45 minutes, and it's quite a good climb at times, but that's part of the things I do to keep fit. After that I watered my garden because we've had a hot summer. And then I had a friend who's gone away to Toronto so she needed her garden watered so I went over to her house and watered her pots too! So that everything will be alive when she gets home. And then, I had a bit of fun for the afternoon because I volunteered at our local tennis club and they have up-coming tennis players, both boys and girls that should be coming onto the pro circuit, they're call the 'Satellite Circuit', and they're very good players and I spent my afternoon volunteering there, helping out with the ticketing, and food and beverages for the volunteers. Kindrey: Were there any big-name players there mom, anybody we would recognize their name, or were they all pretty much young?
Pat: So far they're all pretty much young. We have heard of the young Scottish player who got to the quarter-finals at Wimbledon, and he is in the draw and hopefully he will do well. And there's a little fourteen year old girl that has been setting the tennis world on fire and hopefully she will come through and show us how she plays at all of fourteen years of age. Kindrey: As I understand, I think that it's quite good prize money at this tournament, I think that its $25,000 for the women for the winner and the winner on the men's side gets I think $50,000. So, that sounds like a good tournament, we might have to go and watch some tennis this week. So mom, what other interests do you have, what else are you doing the next couple of days?
Pat: Well, tomorrow morning I'm up early, I'm going to go golfing with a friend, and if we're they're at 7:00, we manage to get on the course when it's not too busy and it's nice and cool and just easier, no pressure from all the people behind you rushing, and it's the best time of the day to play so I'm going to start my day with some golf. Kindrey: Great mom, thanks for joining us today, come back and maybe you'll talk again with us another time. Pat, Oh, I'd love to! Kindrey: Bye mom.
Pat: Bye dear-y.
