Life In Vancouver, by Jill Soles

I feel very fortunate to live in Vancouver, Canada. I believe it is one of the most beautiful places in the world. I have traveled to many different countries and cities, some of which were very beautiful, but none have quite compared to Vancouver.

Take a spring day like today, for example. The sun is shining brightly and as I look out the window I can see the sun's rays dancing off the ocean. There are birds flying in the sky and the trees are full of pink and white cherry blossoms. I do not believe I have ever seen a tree more beautiful than a cherry blossom in full bloom.

To the west, I have a clear view of several snow capped mountains and directly to the north, there are more mountains. Within these mountains are three ski hills and a seemingly endless number of hiking and biking trails. There is even one trail that is 50 km long called the Baden Powell. Every July there is a race that takes place on the Baden Powell called the Knee Knacker. It is a grueling race that takes anywhere from 4-8 hours to complete.

During the spring, summer and fall months, I spend many hours hiking and running on the trails in these mountains. There is nothing more exhilarating than being out in nature breathing in fresh mountain air. However, there are some trails that are extremely popular and busy. Because of this, it is best to go hiking or running early in the morning.

If you enjoy the outdoors and you are not afraid to sweat a little, I highly recommend exploring some of Vancouver's amazing trails. You will not be disappointed!
